Annie came to us as a 7-week-old puppy. She brings a great pedigree, with both Grandsires being well known Grand Champions. Her ancestors are that combination of Conformation and Hunt Test dogs that we are looking for. She is showing strong retrieving desire and is a great swimmer.
Annie is a long coat Chesapeake. – carrying both halves of the recessive gene. The long coat is a disqualification in the show ring as stated by The American Chesapeake Club Standard. However, it is not a health issue and there is a DNA test for the simple recessive gene. So, when we breed her, she will be bred to studs that are not carriers of the long coat gene. Her progeny will have a regular Chesapeake coat and will be carriers of the long coat gene.
Annie is dark brown and weighed 74 pounds at two years of age. She has great conformation and would ace been successful in the show ring if it were not for her coat.
