In 1998, the Contini family purchased the 100 acres of hills in Garrard county Kentucky that we call home. One of the first things we noticed was that there is a pond on the top of the highest hill on the farm. There is an elevation drop of more than 300 feet from this pond to where the property meets historic Scott’s Fork. The family began calling it the “Sky Pond” to differentiate this pond from other ponds on the property. Ray (adopted into the family unofficially) deer and turkey hunted on this part of the farm. When the raising of Chesapeake Bay Retrievers became a reality, we wanted a name for our venture that had a connection to all three of us and would be unique. Thus, the name Sky Pond Chesapeakes was born.
