We were not even thinking of adding another stud and then two things happened.  First, Chief was evaluated to no longer be a viable breeder.  Second, we were contacted by a fellow breeder and offered this young dog because they decided he would not work in their breeding program. He looked like a good prospect to us, so we negotiated a deal for him.

If you have studied the information on this website, you know that I prefer larger, quirky dogs.  Tank meets those preferences perfectly.  At 13 months, he was almost as big as Chopper and will probably rival Fen in size when he fully matures.  In his first show, he was the largest dog entered and he was only eight months old.  Stephanie says he loves to strut his stuff in the showring.  Therefore, Tank finished his conformation Champion title when he was twelve months, two weeks of age and he finished his Grand Champion title at nineteen months, two weeks of age.  He has a full brother that was exported to Sweden and a littermate that was exported to the United Kingdom.  We expect him to excel in the showring even more after he fully matures.

Tank has a very strong retrieving drive and is showing good intelligence. , We will try to fit him into the schedule with Jeremy Ries for training. He’ll be starting at an older age, but I have confidence he will succeed.

Tank is very dark brown and has an exceptional coat. He is very strong boned, stands 26″ at the shoulder and weighs around 100 pounds.

With River, Fen, Chopper and Tank as sires, combined with the fantastic group of females we own, we feel confident that Sky Pond will continue to breed exceptional Chesapeake Bay Retrievers.
